Inside Emmerdale couple Max Parker and Kris Mochries love story including romantic engagement

Emmerdale stars Kris Mochrie and Max Parker recently announced their engagement, after falling in love nearly two years ago.

Max, 29, previously starred on the popular soap as Luke Posner, while Kris, 37, portrayed his on-screen brother, Lee.

Max left Emmerdale back in June after two years on the show, in a bid to further his acting career and has reportedly been offered a huge gig in an upcoming series.

Meanwhile Kris' character Lee was killed off in October 2019, following a short stint on the soap.

While Emmerdale helped the pair find fame and further their acting careers, it also led them to meet and fall in love. Here we take a peek into Kris and Max's love story…

Max and Kris portrayed on-screen brothers Lee and Luke Posner, but never actually shared a scene together during their time on the soap.

Max previously revealed that he actually met his now-fiancé during Kris' final day on set, and it was after he'd left the soap that their romance began.

Speaking in an interview with Attitude, Max revealed that he actually found Kris on Tinder after their first encounter, saying: “I didn’t know he was gay but I remember thinking he’s very handsome.

“It was later I thought ‘I’ve never done Tinder so I’ll have a go’, so I went on Tinder and I saw him pop up, and I was like ‘OK this is a sign’ – so I made the first move by sending a message on Instagram.”

The pair went on to enjoy a string of dates, and in July 2020 they confirmed they were officially an item.

Kris and Max's romance has continued to go from strength to strength, and in May 2021 they revealed they'd taken the plunge and moved in together.

The couple relocated to Manchester, and live in a swanky penthouse apartment which is is part of a skyscraper residence building.

The lavish apartment block comes equipped with a roof garden, concierge, private pool, gym and yoga studio.

Explaining their choice of location, a source told previously The Sun: “As first homes go, this is a doozy. Max and Kris are proud and excited to start the next phase of their relationship in style.”

“Moving to Manchester works well for them as it’s a central point between Leeds, where Max films Emmerdale, and London, where Kris does a lot of consultancy work.”

Kris and Max have remained loved-up ever since, and on 22 January they took to Instagram to announce their engagement.

The couple had been enjoying a luxurious holiday to South Africa, when Max got down on one knee in a romantic proposal on the beach.

The actor shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a clip of the moment he'd popped the question to a shocked Kris.

Max gushed over his new fiancé, writing: "He deserves the world, but the best I could do was promise him my heart. HE SAID YES!

"Happiest moment of my life. @krismoc my Fiancé."

Kris also took to social media to pay tribute to his husband-to-be, telling fans how he loves him "beyond words".

The 37 year old revealed he had no idea that Max was planning to propose, and how he'd pulled out all the stops with a gorgeous engagement ring.

Speaking to Phil Trow during a recent appearance on BBC Radio Manchester, Kris explained: "I did not expect it in a million years.

"The way he planned it as well…he chose a spot and hid a drone in the bushes…so just the thought that went into it was amazing."
