Jeremy Kyle is facing criticism this week after a bombshell documentary aired claiming to reveal the truth about his morning show that ran for 14 years on ITV until 2019.
TV fans have urged that Jeremy Kyle be dumped from TalkRadio after watching the recent documentary about his derailed programme.
The programme aired in two parts, with the first being screened on Channel 4 on Sunday night before concluding on Monday.
The two parter included harrowing claims from previous The Jeremy Kyle Show guests, as well as interviews with people who worked on the long-running ITV programme.
The airing of the show left fans curious to learn more about the controversial TV host and in particular how he met his second wife while hosting a late night radio show. Let's take a look.
Jeremy Kyle's love life has faced its fair share of ups and downs including two failed marriages and an affair with his children's nanny with who he remains in a relationship with.
The 53-year-old proposed to 37-year-old Vicky Burton, who he met while she was caring for his three youngest children, in 2018 while on a romantic holiday in the Carribean.
A source close to the star said: “Jeremy is completely loved up with Vicky – she’s put a smile back on his face.
“He chose the Grenadines because it’s a very romantic place and they’re ecstatically happy.
“Both sets of families are absolutely chuffed for them.”
Although the relationship has raised eyebrows, the couple insists the relationship started after her employment with the family had ended.
Jeremy's wife at the time of Vicky's employment was the mother of his three youngest children, Carla Germaine.
Jeremy met his second wife Carla when he was hosting a late night show on the Birmingham-based radio station, 96.4 BRMB where listeners would call in with their confessions.
The show hosted a competition where it would oversee the marriage of two total strangers selected by Jeremy and his team.
The bride selected was then 23-year-old model Carla Germaine from Sutton Coldfield who married sales manager Greg Cordell from Tamworth in 1999.
However, despite an all-expenses-paid honeymoon during which the couple reportedly continuously argued, they split after a matter of months.
Carla and Jeremy married in 2002, and have two daughters and a son together. After 14 years together, the couple announced they were divorcing in 2015.
Jeremy said: “We have sadly grown apart over recent years and have been living apart since earlier this summer.”
It later was revealed in the Sun on Sunday that Carla reportedly had been unfaithful with England polo player James Carr, 25, while they were still married.
Jeremy and Carla were granted a “quickie divorce” in February 2016 after she cited his “unreasonable behaviour” as the reason for the breakdown of their marriage which was dissolved within 20 seconds.
Jeremy met his first wife, Kirsty Rowley, in 1988 when he was working as a recruitment consultant in Bristol.
The couple were engaged after just two months and had a traditional white wedding in July 1989 at her family home in Almondsbury, near Bristol.
However, soon the cracks began to show culminating in a huge row while on holiday in the Maldives which ended in Kirsty throwing her wedding ring in the sea.
Their daughter, Harriet, now 27, was born in June 1990 but their marriage broke down a year later.
In 2007, Kirsty said how Jeremy had taken money from her bank account to fund his gambling addiction. She also claims he faked a heart condition and raked up £4,500 in gambling debts.
She said: “The man I married wouldn’t have been out of place as a guest on his own show."
“The programme is crass and embarrassing and for Jeremy to act like some kind of agony uncle is sheer hypocrisy.”
In his autobiography, Jeremy wrote: “Gambling is the mistress that truly seduced me. I will never understand what a hit of heroin feels like, but gambling I get. Big time."
“Plenty of days I can remember taking money out of the cashpoint and going to the bookies and then losing and going again to the cashpoint — and back again and again . . .
“There was this pull and suddenly I was chasing money, trying to achieve something that has never been achieved: making a bookie poor.”
The Jeremy Kyle Show was axed in 2019 after the death of Steve Dymond, 63, who took his own life days after filming an episode of the show, which saw him fail a lie detector test.
Jeremy addressed the documentary a day after it was aired – giving his statement on TalkRadio.
He told listeners: "Let's just deal with the elephant in the room straight away – couple of texts already talking about a certain programme that was on television last night.
"Yes, I am fully aware. I will say only this, my friends, to you. I have maintained a consistent approach over the last three years.”
