Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, last May and has since shared updates while settling into life with babies Logan and Luella.
In her exclusive column for OK! , Frankie has discussed a range of topics related to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to “feeling more human again” as the babies dropped their dreaded 2am feed.
This week Frankie talks about how she's hoping to get back in shape and run the London Marathon next year, going out for the evening without the twins, and how she felt emotional watching the youngsters "graduate" from their baby sensory class.
The end of an era
This week was the twins' last baby sensory, which is a playgroup they started when they were eight weeks old, so they've been in that group since they were so young and it would be same teacher every week. It was really sad because she and Logan had properly bonded.
The twins got to wear little graduation outfits with a little gown and hat and looked so cute, but it was still emotional and was like the end of an era.
Luella's taken her first steps
Luke and I were just chatting and Luella just took her first steps at the playgroup. It was so cute, and then she did it again that same day. She's just been standing loads recently and balancing on her own. And where Logan's been on the move, she's just such a little fighter and wants to do it as well.
She's really been pushing herself and I'm so proud of her. She's really strong-minded and has just got no fear like she'll fall over and just get back up no worries, which is brilliant.
We're so proud of her and soon hopefully they'll both be walking and can go to Clarks and get their first proper shoes.
Date night without the twins
Luke and I went to the theatre to see Mrs Doubtfire and it was so great, and when we were watching it I just thought about Robin Williams and how good he was, and the guy playing that role in the show really was just amazing and really brought him back to life for me.
It was a really nice night out and we had a couple of cocktails as my dad and his girlfriend were looking after the twins, but we kept watching them on the monitor as we couldn't help ourselves, and ended up missing them.
It was our second time being out for the evening just the two of us, so it was nice to get that time together – even if we did miss the kids.
My back's still hurting but has been on the mend
It's been so much better, honestly, and the doctor was saying that I'm booked in for an appointment next Tuesday but may not even need to go. But it is still hurting a bit so I'm still planning on going.
It's still really tight when I get up and sit down but I'm walking a lot more now. Although, I think I'm going to have to start doing some more stretches.
I had to get a cleaner round when my back was at its worst as I was in so much pain when leaning down to clean the floor, especially having to do it multiple times a day when the twins are eating.
But then I found these things online called High Chair Catches that will stop the food even reaching the floor and they've just been amazing, so I would definitely recommend them for other parents.
I'm training for the London Marathon
I'm the heaviest I've been so far and now that the twins have turned one I feel like I don't have an excuse anymore. I'm on a mission to look and feel better, especially ahead of my birthday in September.
Both Luke and I have those watches that count your steps and calories and turns out I'm 3,000 calories a day but I must just be overcompensating with food. I've decided to stop drinking alcohol until my friend's wedding in August – although I am now a bit worried about the hangover after, especially with twins.
We're planning to run the London Marathon, although neither me nor Luke were accepted on the ballot – it' the 10th unsuccessful attempt for him even though he finished last year in three hours and 40 minutes. But we're still planning to take part and are currently looking at charities to raise money for.
I love finding parenting hacks on social media
I saw one that will really help with packing. This woman got a shoe organiser that you hang on the door and put the baby's outfits for each day in the separate compartments and folded it into the suitcase and then when she got on holiday she just hung it up on the back of the door. I bought one on Amazon and going to try this hack when going away in August.
