AUSTIN, Texas — Teddy is back.
James Marsden made a surprise appearance at the “Westworld” panel at ATX TV Festival’s closing night on Saturday as castmates Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Hemsworth, Angela Sarafyan and newcomer Aurora Perrineau teased the new season.
“Any chance we see Teddy return in Season 4?” Marsden asked from the crowd when taking audience questions. “I am a super big fan. Asking for a friend.”
After running up and joining the cast on stage, he told the cheering crowd, “I am so happy to be here and tell you nothing about Season 4.”
Marsden, 48, was on the first two seasons of the hit show as a host, but did not appear in Season 3.
“Well sometimes you have to go away to come back,” he said, adding that the cast has learned to be cryptic about everything when it comes to the spoiler-heavy series.
While not much is said about the upcoming season, Wood and creator Lisa Joy did tease the actress’ “new” role as a writer named Christina. They also teased that Wood would be going on dates and one of those dates would be with Marsden’s character.
“Many a nerdy writer grew up watching some James Marsden films being like, ‘Oh, James, he’s so pretty and beautiful and handsome … and what if I were on a date with a guy that looked like James Marsden, what would he say to me?’ And I got to write the date!”
Joy also joked that this was the closest to rom-com writing she would ever get.
Following the panel, HBO hosted a party for the cast at Wax Myrtle’s in downtown Austin.
