Jesse Williams won’t be shelling out so much in child support payments, at least for now.
According to court documents filed on Thursday, the actor’s monthly child support payments have been “temporarily modified” to $6,413, reports People.
Last month, Williams petitioned the court to reduce his $40,000 monthly child support payments to ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee now that he is no longer appearing on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
“I am requesting the Court reduce the child support to a reasonable amount I can afford given the significant reduction in my income and the now fluctuating nature of my income,” the actor, 40, said in court documents.
Williams left the ABC medical drama in May 2021 after 12 seasons and now stars in the Broadway revival of Richard Greenberg’s play “Take Me Out.”
He claimed in the documents that he is now making $1,668 per week compared to his hefty “Grey’s Anatomy” paycheck, which came in at a grand total of $6.2 million and $183,000 in residuals from the Shondaland hit.
He and Drake-Lee, 40, share joint custody of their two children: Sadie, 8 and Maceo, 6.
The couple separated in 2017, but their nasty divorce was not finalized until October 2020.
They have previously battled over custody and payments. In April 2021, they were required to attend “high-conflict” parenting classes, to teach them strategies for avoiding conflicts while co-parenting.
Williams is currently winning raves for his Broadway debut as a gay baseball player who comes out in “Take Me Out” in which he has to strip.
“I was terrified,” Williams told Page Six about appearing nude, “but then I noted that that was what I asked God for. I asked to be terrified. I asked to do something that was scary and challenging and made me earn it and made me feel alive and not comfortable.”
