John Mayer may be joining the late-night talk show circuit.
The 43-year-old singer is reportedly near to closing a deal with the streaming service Paramount+. According to Variety, Mayer plans to host a talk and performance series based on the format of the BBC program “Later with Jools Holland.” The British show is a late-night staple where legendary and undiscovered artists come together for live studio performances and interviews.
Representatives for Mayer and Paramount+ did not immediately return The Post’s requests for comment.
“Later With John Mayer” has been pitched to potential networks, according to Variety sources. The “Your Body Is a Wonderland” crooner’s new talker would contain performance segments as well as interviews with musicians, artists and other pop culture figures on a set designed to look like a club for singers.
New episodes of the series would reportedly be released weekly on Paramount+, along with specials airing on CBS. According to Variety, there also is the possibility of specials, as well as tie-ins with the Grammy Awards, which are broadcast on CBS.
Mayer already has some hosting experience under his belt. In 2015, he was a guest host for three episodes of CBS’ “The Late Late Show With James Corden.” Back in 2004, he also dropped his docuseries, “John Mayer Has a TV Show,” on VH1. Aside from appearing on the small screen, the Grammy winner has hosted his “Current Mood” talk show on Instagram Live since 2018.
