When royal patronages collide. Kate’s many patronages include the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Meanwhile, the Royal College of Midwives is one of Anne’s patronages. So the two made a joint visit to the London headquarters of both organizations.
According to People, they learned about how the organizations are working to improve maternal healthcare. Kate and Anne’s joint engagement also included a roundtable meeting where they spoke with experts and new mothers about inequality in maternity care.
During the visit, they also saw the work being done to enhance gynecological skills locally and globally. Kate and Anne’s joint engagement also included a sweet moment on their way out when kids gave them flowers.
Royal fans loved the unexpected pair
Anne and Kate’s joint engagement included meeting with people from both organizations. And as Dr. Edward Morris, President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, said, they wanted to learn more.
“What struck me was the way their Royal Highnesses were both interested and very curious about what we were doing,” he said. Morris continued, saying they “asked very personal questions” which were “very much about looking after future generations” and “mothers of today” to “benefit of women and children of tomorrow.”
Morris added that raising children “at very different times” allowed Kate and Anne to provide helpful feedback. As royal fans may know, the Duchess of Cambridge has been involved with childhood development research. Some in the field even consider Kate an expert.
