Kelly Clarkson QUITS $14 Million A Year Coaching Job On The Voice

Kelly Clarkson is walking away from her role as a coach on NBC’s The Voice to spend more time with her children following a messy divorce from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The country crooner—a fan favorite who first appeared on the show in 2012—will give up her $14 million a year salary when she vacates her red chair.

The Since U Been Gone singer has reportedly shifted her priorities following her nasty divorce and wants to focus on spending more time with the three children she shares with her ex-husband.

“While Kelly hasn’t announced it publicly yet, she’s done with the red chair. She’s quit,” a television insider told OK! Magazine. “She has shifted mindset. After her divorce from Brandon Kelly has decided she needs to prioritize her kids. There’s only so much she can do. Something had to give. That something was The Voice.”

Her decision to quit The Voice follows her divorce from Brandon, with whom she split in June 2020, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the end of their seven-year marriage.

The pair finally settled their divorce in March, with Kelly agreeing to pay her ex-husband $1.32 million and $115,000 in monthly spousal support until January 31, 2024. And although a judge awarded the singer their Montana mansion as part of the settlement, Brandon will be allowed live there until June as long as he keeps paying rent.

The singer hinted at her exit from the singing competition during an online conversation with fans.

“I’ve decided this year there’s just [going to] be a couple changes for me that I can’t say here,” She explained. “There’s a couple things happening. I’ve been able to make more time just for me and my kiddos and still be able to work. Just where we can get away on weekends and really do some fun stuff with my kids.”

Kelly says she wants to make memories with her children while they’re still young, adding: “They only want to hang out with you for so long and that’s now so I got to take advantage of that. I’m excited to have more time with them. I mean I have a ton of time in the morning but I don’t know, I’m selfish. They’re fun.”
