Kerry Katona has slammed Phillip Schofield and claimed her now-infamous interview with him on the show in 2008 is another example of the 'toxic' culture on the programme as the This Morning controversy continues.
The presenter left his day time television job last week and later resigned from ITV after he admitted to having an affair with a younger male colleague while still married to his wife.
Now, speaking to Dan Wootton on GB News on Wednesday evening about the affair, Kerry has also revealed that her own chat with Phillip on This Morning left her feeling suicidal and belittled.
Here, we examine what happened in the interview with Phil and Fern Britton and why Kerry had a reported feud with the presenter after the incident.
What happened during the 2008 interview?
The interview, which happened 15 years ago, saw Phillip asking Kerry about her slurred speech and saying: "You don't seem right to me sitting here now, your speech is a bit slurred, how are you feeling now?
"Our phone is already going off up in the gallery from people asking is she ok.
"We are merely pointing out someone who is very different from a few years ago."
She told him at the time that her bipolar medication had an impact on how she spoke but her explanation did not stop the interview becoming infamous as 'car crash' television.
It was also revealed that the star was battling addiction at the time, although she insisted in the interview that she was 'absolutely fine.'
What happened in the aftermath of Kerry's interview on This Morning in 2008?
In 2021, the star told listeners on Marnie Simpson's podcast, Marnie's Home Truths, that she found it hard to deal with the backlash after her appearance on the show and was left feeling suicidal.
She said: "Next day, front page of the papers, 'Sherry Kerry', 'Merry Kerry'. It was just awful. I was suicidal. I wanted to die. It was everywhere."
Kerry, who has been sober for 14 years, claimed that she still has to justify herself for the interview today and that the aftermath of the chat saw people not wanting to work with her.
She told Dan on Wednesday night: "People don't understand what that interview did to me emotionally.
"Even now, when I go back to ITV – which isn't very often – there is a sense of snobbery and that I'm not good enough. I feel like I have to impress them, I've got to watch my speech, I can't slur."
Kerry also alleged that no one from ITV spoke to her after the interview or checked whether she was ok.
The mother-of-five, also claimed on GB News that she met the colleague that Phillip had an affair with while working on Loose Women.
She said: "I met the young runner several times, lovely lad."
Are Phillip and Kerry friends now?
It was reported that Phillip and Kerry were feuding after the chat but in 2021 she rubbished the reports.
She said at the time: "Hang on a minute…. This is b*******!
“I have NOT been feuding with Schofe for 13 years at all!!!! I absolutely adore Phil!!! We’ve been friends for a very long time!”
"Philip has always been so lovely, not with just me but my kids too… so please don’t believe everything you read!
"This has been completely twisted.”
