Kylie Jenner's pregnancy cravings may have given away the sex of her second child, says a pregnancy expert.

Earlier this month, the 24-year-old confirmed that she and boyfriend Travis Scott were expecting their second baby together.

In an adorable 90-second clip shared to Instagram, Kylie carries a positive pregnancy test before telling partner Travis and heading to an ultrasound appointment.

Since the video, the reality TV star has kept relatively quiet. But taking to her Instagram Story, Kylie gave fans a rare glimpse into her pregnancy experience, sharing her cravings with her 269 million followers.

In the photo, she can be seen holding a cup of frozen yoghurt covered in cereal, accompanied by the caption 'Cravings', with some drooling emojis.

And according to Nina Julian, fertility and pregnancy expert at CFAH, Kylie’s cravings could be indicative of the sex of her second child.

“Although it hasn’t been confirmed, we suspect Kylie may be pregnant with a girl due to her sweet treats cravings,” she said.

During Kylie’s pregnancy with Stormi, now three, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star similarly craved sugary food.

In a question-and-answer session on Twitter in 2018, when asked what her “number 1” craving while pregnant was, the make-up mogul told fans that she’d massively craved Eggo waffles despite previously never liking them.

She wrote: “Eggos!!! I never liked them before I was pregnant & haven’t had one since I had her. so strange! Lol”

Though indicating that another baby girl may be on the horizon, Nina notes that Kylie’s sweet tooth could be down to fluctuating blood sugar levels.

“Craving sweet treats during pregnancy can sometimes be due to a drop in blood sugar, so eating small, frequent meals may help you avoid eating too much sugar,” she said.

In addition to the reality TV star, Nina also shone a light on the meanings behind other celebrity and royal pregnancy cravings.

Kate Middleton and Katy Perry

According to reports, The Duchess of Cambridge experienced cravings for takeaways and vegetable curries while pregnant with George back in 2013, just as Katy Perry was left carrying Tabasco sauce everywhere she went due to her want of spicy food.

For Nina, women regularly crave spicy food while pregnant due to hormonal changes and nutrient deficiencies, as well as because of compounds in the foods themselves.

However, the familiarity of curries and takeaways for Kate may have operated as a source of solace during her pregnancy as a first-time mum.

Nina said: “Women crave curry while pregnant as they are usually associated with comfort food and is a delicious filling meal.”

Meghan Markle

Sister-in-law Meghan Markle on the other hand reportedly craved pasta during both of her pregnancies, although she tried her best to avoid gluten for the health of her children.

As Nina said, eating too much gluten while pregnant could have detrimental effects: “It is thought that if too much gluten is ingested, it can lead to a low birth weight baby.”

But as part of her healthy routine, Meghan also ate fruit and organic vegetables while maintaining her strong pre-pregnancy fitness routine.

“Craving fruit may indicate your body levels are low in vitamin C, so if you’re pregnant, be sure to stock up on oranges,” said Nina.

Nicki Minaj

Besides craving fruit, Nina highlights that another sign of having low vitamin C is the desire to eat lots of red meat – an experience shared by Nicki Minaj, who tweeted about her need to eat steak, shrimp and cheeseburgers while pregnant.

“Often, this desire for fresh ingredients appears when your body needs more Vitamin C, calcium, iron or magnesium,” the pregnancy expert revealed.

One celebrity who took their cravings to the extreme is Kim Kardashian who admitted to flying to Paris because of her cheesecake cravings.

For Nina, desiring cheese and sweet treats is not only common but can also be beneficial when it comes to ensuring the health of the child.

She said: “These are both highly common cravings, when the baby is growing inside you during pregnancy it is important to consume calcium to stay healthy.”

Gigi Hadid and Kourtney Kardashian

Equally impressive however is model Gigi Hadid whose appetite for bagels led to her throwing an infamous bagel themed birthday party.

Though her levels of dedication to her taste buds may have been unusual, her desire to eat carbs was more than common, with Kourtney Kardashian also craving the food.

According to Nina, eating carbohydrates is popular among pregnant people as it can help combat unwanted symptoms of sickness during pregnancy.

“Consuming pasta, toast, crackers, or bagels could help you to satisfy this craving and ease some of that nausea and fatigue,” she said.
