Phoebe Roberts has joined the cast of Neighbours, it has been confirmed.
The actress, best known for her role in Channel 5’s Lie With Me, will portray mysterious Freya Wozniak.
There is little known about Freya at the moment, but we can reveal that the character likes to keeps her cards close to her chest – and she is certainly not afraid to bend the rules!
Phoebe started filming last week on the set of the long-running serial drama, and will make her onscreen debut early next year.
‘I am so thrilled to be joining the Ramsay St family,’ she said upon her casting.
‘Neighbours is such a huge part of the Australian film and TV industry, it’s very exciting to be involved in something so iconic that is also so loved in the UK.
‘As a kid, I tuned in to watch all the drama of Erinsborough unfold, it’s surreal to now be a part of that drama!”
Jason Herbison, Neighbours and Lie With Me Executive Producer, said: ‘We were all blown away by Phoebe’s performance in Lie With Me and knew Ramsay Street had to be her next stop.
‘We’ve created a fascinating character for her that is complex, mysterious and a risk taker, she’s going to be a lot of fun and Phoebe has already nailed the role.’
Phoebe is the latest in a string of casting annoucements made by Neighbours, after the show confirmed last month that Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden will guest star as Harlow Robinson’s aunt Harriet in a special London storyline.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor will also make a cameo appearance in the soap as part of the same narrative.
Neighbours airs Mondays – Fridays at 1.45pm and 5:30pm on Channel 5.
