Love Love Island? Our Factor 50 email brings all the goss direct to your inbox
The Love Island girls have seriously stepped up their hair and makeup game this year, but no one more than Casa Amor newbie Mary Bedford, whose signature 90s hairstyle has wowed Twitter users.
The 22 year old loves to experiment with her hair, but favours a slick, half up-do style – a look she wore when she was brought back into the main villa by former flame Toby Aromolaran.
Fans of the show have been raving about her trademark 90s-inspired ‘do, with many flocking to social media to shower her with compliments.
“My goodness Mary knows how to slick back her hair well, an absolute babe,” one Twitter user comments, while another notes: “Mary’s hair is so cute omg.”
The star has showcased the look several times in the villa and, judging from her snaps on social media, she’s been styling her hair that way for quite some time.
But how exactly does she do it, we hear you ask? Well, luckily for us, a pre-prepped tutorial has just popped up on her Instagram page – Mary must have guessed it was going to be popular! Better still, it’s surprisingly easy to copy.
All it requires is a sectioning clip, a thin bobble, a teasing brush and a clear styling gel like Giovanni L.A. Natural's Styling Gel, from £2.49 here.
If gel products just aren’t your bag, we highly recommend Ouai Haircare’s Matte Pomade, £16 here – a cult-favourite product created by Kardashian hairstylist Jen Atkin for delivering a sleek matte finish to the hair.
Firstly, Mary sections off the front two pieces of her hair, and holds them in place with no-mark grip, before pulling the top of her hair tightly into a ponytail position.
“And then with the brush and the gel, start smoothing it out,” Mary tells fans.
“Repeat until all the hair is smooth,” she adds. “Bring the brush down and round to keep the parting in the middle”.
Once completely slicked back, Mary takes a bobble and ties her ponytail in place, while ensuring all flyaways are stuck down by applying gel to her fingers and smoothing over the hair.
To complete the look, the Islander takes her front sections down, and goes over them with her straighteners for a flawless finish.
After last night’s dramatic recoupling, Mary became the last remaining Casa Amor girl to continue in the Love Island villa, after her co-stars Clarisse Juliettè and Amy Day were sent home.
We don’t know about you, but we’re happy to see Mary slay another day, and can’t wait to see what hairstyle she showcases next.
