It’s not uncommon for people (read: men) to react badly after being told someone isn’t into them.
The spectrum of these reactions ranges from literally dangerous to just a tad embarrassing, albeit unhinged.
Despite letting her date down gently, one TikTok user ended up witnessing one of these strange responses to getting turned down when he left a message on under her toilet seat for her future conquests to see… using her lipstick.
Last week, Luna (@notsimpqueen7 on TikTok) shared a video of her scrubbing the underneath of her toilet seat with the caption: ‘Kicked out a Hinge date within 15 minutes of meeting him because bad vibes and he asked to use the bathroom before leaving AND USED MY LIPSTICK TO WRITE ALL OVER THE TOILET SEAT.’
Gross, right?!
Although the full message wasn’t clear, except for the word ‘run,’ some people blindly defended the man.
‘He went out of his way and suffered more of his time in an effort to save other men the same torment, guys a bro,’ wrote one user.
Another user wrote: ‘If *during* the date he’s leaving warning notes for future dudes…then he’s not the crazy one.’
Another commended the man for ‘performing a public service.’
he also wrote his phone number on the seat?? my weirdo radar was spot on 🙂
Meanwhile, others thought the idea was plain disgusting.
‘Only a man who never cleans his toilet would think this was a clever idea,’ one commenter said.
All the confusion led to Lola making a follow-up story time video revealing the full content of the message and the context behind it.
She explained that she invited out the man, who she met on dating app Hinge, with herself and a group of friends.
She realised fairly quickly that the vibe wasn’t right, so asked her date to leave.
‘I just wasn’t feeling it, I didn’t want to have a bad night, so I was like can you please order yourself an Uber and leave?’ Lola explained.
Reply to @doctorhardcock #greenscreen take whoever’s side. i probably could’ve been nicer but he ruined TWO of my favorite lipsticks 🤷🏼♀️
She added that she ‘genuinely did try to spare his feelings a little bit,’ by telling him that she didn’t ‘feel comfortable hanging out with a guy because I am still in love with my ex’.
Afterwards, the man asked to use the bathroom and resorted to writing ‘She is effing her ex. RUN’ on the bottom of her toilet seat, along with his phone number.
Though some were still taking the man’s side, commenters on the second video were more likely to take Lola’s side.
‘His reaction proves your instincts were correct. Good decision,’ wrote one user.
Someone else said: ‘Your bad vibes were not wrong.’
They’re definitely right: how someone reacts to being told no says a lot about their character.
