If you tuned in to our OK! Instagram live with Married at First Sight Australia star Martha Kalifatidis then you’ll know how flooded we got with questions about her skincare regime. And as an exclusive for our OK! VIP Club members, we've rounded up the star's top product recommendations and skincare tips.
The star-turned-skincare-guru also bravely decided to go filter-free to show followers exactly what she looks like with a bare face. It’s something that might not have been easy for her once, as she admits to struggling with adult acne in her twenties.

“I had an acne beard, it was so bad. But I changed my diet, I cut out dairy, I cut out gluten and I had heaps of veggies,” she says. “That all helped balance my hormones. It felt like it took forever but it helped.”
Martha even treated us to a guest appearance from her MAFS co-star and husband Michael Brunelli, who gave us a close-up look of his freshly-dyed blonde hair. Both he and Martha spent the best part of the day getting their lengths freshened up in an Aussie hair salon.
“It’s fun because it’s like I get to go on a date with a new man for Valentine’s Day,” Martha jokes, referring to her husband’s new look.
But it wasn’t just skincare Martha spoke about. She also tackled the topic of cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery – something she gets asked about by fans a lot.
The 32-year-old admitted early on in MAFS that she’s previously undergone surgery to enhance her breasts and refine her nose. Today she’s also refreshingly candid about her use of Botox and fillers, which she says was triggered by the pressures of appearing on the show.
“I always thought I was a confident girl but watching myself back on TV I thought, ‘Oh wow I need to get this done and this done’. My teeth, my face, my ears – my everything! You just put yourself under a microscope,” she says.
“Am I going to change more? There’s nothing more I can really do! I get Botox, I have fillers twice a year, I’ve done my nose and my boobs ten years ago. What else can I really do? Otherwise I feel like I’m just not myself and I’m cleansing all the real Martha away.”
On the subject of cleansing, it’s something Martha stresses she feels very strongly about – in the skincare sense!
So just what does she use, and why? Here are all the products Martha spoke about and where you can pick them up for yourself…
Martha’s skincare faves
Drunk Elephant Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser, £29 here
“The number one thing I recommend everyone to do – all skin types – is an oil cleanse,” she advises.
Martha uses a hot face cloth to remove this balm, which helps to open pores and cleanse them. She also mentions she often mixes her cleansing oil or balm with a cold-pressed castor oil, £6.49 here on Amazon, as it “extracts and cleanses pores”.
Fresh Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence, £28 here
“I dry my face then use a toner. It’s something new I’m doing and I’m noticing a lot of dirt coming off. I think I’m going to bed all clean but it needs that extra toner help,” Martha says.
Drunk Elephant Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Spray, £35 here
“I always mist after I’ve washed my face and used a toner,” she says.
DMK Beta Gel or Drunk Elephant B-Hydra, £40 here
Martha’s favourite serum is DMK Beta Gel Serum, but it’s tricky to find over here in the UK. Her next choice is this Drunk Elephant version, which boosts hydration and helps soothe stressed skin. She uses the serum in the mornings, after using a facial mist.
Olay Retinol24 Night Serum, £17.49 here
As part of her nighttime skin regime, Martha always uses a retinol. “I have quite sensitive skin and I love this one. This one is a great place to start for beginners, but works on all skin types,” she says.
“If your skin is used to using retinol, you can go in with the hard stuff – Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream [£24 here] .”
REN Clean Screen Mineral SPF30, £32 here
“I never, ever leave the house without sunscreen. I even wear it when I’m sitting at home as I think it really helps to keep my skin looking young. Sure, you can get Botox and fillers but if you’re not protecting it from the sun, there’s not much point,” says Martha,
Her favourite is an oil-free version from Lira Clinical, which isn’t available to buy here, but REN’s version is a great alternative.
Eco by Sonya Glory Oil, from £34.95 here
As part of Martha’s night time regime, she uses this hydrating and nourishing face oil. “I press it on my face but I also use it on my arms and my chest,” she says.
If you have oily skin and fear using an oil will make your complexion extra greasy, Martha says that’s just a myth.
“Your skin needs moisture. If you have oily skin and you’re trying to strip it then all it’s going to do is produce more oil and overcompensate.”
La Mer Crème de la Mer, £130 here
“I don’t expect everyone to buy this, so you can use any thicker, emollient cream,” says Martha. “Press it in over the top of your skincare at night to trap the moisture in.”
Origins Out of Trouble Mask 10 Minute Mask, £24 here
“It’s a clay mask so it's really good if you’re suffering from acne or breakouts. It helps soothe and calm the skin, I use it weekly,” Martha says.
