Martin Lewis was back with a bumper The Martin Lewis Money Show: Live. He had the best advice and shopping tips for Black Friday and Christmas – including all the biggest discount and deals for many popular stores. The financial guru also shared a “nifty trick” which could see the brand give an extra discount code at the online checkout.
Price Comparison
The Money Saving Expert started off: “If you’re shopping on Amazon at this time of year, you want to know if it’s really cheap.
“Camelcamelcamel.co.uk maps the prices, so you can see if they’ve gone up or down.
“If you go and see the price now and it’s saying it’s discounted, you can see if it’s really the cheapest time of the year.
“Price comparison for your Christmas shopping; pricespy.co.uk is a good comparison to see if it’s cheaper in different stores.
“Then there’s a good little trick to use this time of year; go into your shopping basket, when you’ve logged in online, put the items you want in and then walk away.
Checkout tip
“What often happens, a couple of days later, if you haven’t bought, they will send you a discount code to make it cheaper.
“Some of them [stores and brands] are getting wise about this and it doesn’t always work.
“But it’s a nice nifty trick for this time of year.”
Gift Card advice
He continued: “And a final note – gift vouchers and gift cards, understand they are not protected.
“If the firm goes bust, the money is gone.
“Personally, I’m in favour of cash, it’s the most flexible gift voucher you can give.”
Black Friday
Later on in the show, Martin moved onto the current deals ahead of Black Friday officially starting tomorrow and going through to Cyber Monday.
“I’ve tried to do this in order of worst to best,” he told ITV viewers.
“The one off deals are the ones that scare me – they’re trying to get you to buy things you wouldn’t otherwise – just be careful with this.
“We’ve got a whole host of big names.”
