“Friends” star Matthew Perry has reportedly inked a seven-figure deal to write a memoir that promises to go behind the scenes of the legendary sitcom and address his longtime battle with addiction, reports Deadline.

Macmillan division Flatiron Books picked up the worldwide rights to the tome for “the mid-seven figure range” in what Deadline calls “a major overnight pre-empt” that circumvented an auction.

The 52-year-old actor, best known for playing Chandler Bing on the NBC hit, first went into rehab in 1997 and then again in 2001. He even admitted to not remembering filming multiple seasons of “Friends” due to his drug use.

“I think the answer is, I don’t remember three years of it,” he told BBC Radio 2 in 2016. “So none of those … Somewhere between Season 3 and 6 … I was a little out of it.”

Perry has said that a jet ski accident precipitated his addiction, leaving him dependent on painkillers.

“It wasn’t my intention to have a problem with it. But from the start, I liked how it made me feel, and I wanted to get more,” said Perry, whose subsequent weight loss of around 20 pounds became noticeable to viewers.

“I was out of control and very unhealthy.”

Earlier this year fans were alarmed when a video to promote the eagerly awaited “Friends” reunion show revealed Perry slurring his words and appearing to stare vacantly.

The “Fools Rush In” star has also had a tumultuous personal year. Last November he got engaged to 29-year-old literary agent Molly Hurwitz, calling her the “greatest woman on the face of the planet.”

Sadly, just seven months later the couple split with Perry releasing a statement that read: “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.”

Perry’s personal life was also put in an unflattering light earlier this year when a 19-year-old girl released private FaceTime chats she had with the then 51-year-old star after matching with him on Raya.

The untitled memoir will be published in fall 2022.
