On Wednesday evening we saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wow as they stepped out to attend the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala in New York City.
Whilst the couple looked loved up, most peoples eyes were distracted by Meghan's incredible and bold red gown which she opted to wear.
Alongside paying a dazzling tribute to Princess Diana with her Cartier diamond bracelet, the 40-year-old opted for a red carpet worthy dress by American designer Carolina Herrera who has dressed the Duchess of many occasions, one being her second pregnancy announcement photo's.
Despite breaking away from the Royal Family, Meghan's outfit broke many royal protocols which could have signalled cutting the last thread to the firm.

The gorgeous gown not only came with a plunging neckline which is deeply frowned upon by The Queen but also a daring thigh-high split which is against the rules.
In addition to this, it is a known fact that the Royals aren't meant to show a great amount of their shoulders in public, so the risqué choice of thin straps is also another cross for protocols.
The choice of gown and designer could be considered to represent how Meghan is embracing her new Hollywood lifestyle as she ups her style stakes.
Momtaz Begum-Hossain, author of 'Hello Rainbow: Finding Happiness in Colour' which can be pre-ordered now here, said: "Nothing signals self-confidence more than wearing a red dress and Meghan Markle’s decision to opt for a ravishing red gown by Carolina Herrera is her message to the world that she is in a good place because her life is filled with self-belief and love.
"Red is commonly associated as being the colour of sensuality and passion and she is owning that positive energy from top-to-toe, by teaming her dress with red heels.
"Having recently celebrated her 40th birthday, Meghan’s colour choice is a clear statement that she may have moved into a new phase of her life, but that doesn’t mean she’ll be blending into the background."
This isn't the first time in which we have seen Meghan sport the bold colour as she previously wore a head-to-toe scarlet outfit to visit a school in New York in September.
In May, the Duchess made a surprise video appearance at Global Citizen's Vax Live concert also in a Carolina Herrera red poppy print dress.
And we all remember the couples last event in the UK in March 2020 when Meghan wowed in a letterbox red Safiyaa caped gown at the Mountbatten Festival of Music.
Momtaz spoke about how "Red is the colour of stability; it grounds us and connects us to the earth’s core."
When we spot red we instantly feel alert and awake and this immediacy is a trait that Meghan uses to her benefit, for it’s a reminder to live in the here and now.
Red fuels her with the power to be her authentic self and by stepping out into the limelight radiating this joyous glow she is reassuring her fans and well-wishers that she has moved on from the pain she’s felt in her private life over the last few years and is now ready to take on her next adventures in life, love and career."
We're totally in love with the amazing outfit.
