Melissa Joan Hart and Soleil Moon Frye’s almost four-decade-long friendship would make Sabrina Spellman and Roxie King proud.
“We’ve been friends for so much of our lives,” Frye, 44, told Page Six while celebrating National Best Friends Day with Heluva Good! “And we both love to talk. We also both love to listen.”
The duo — who played college roommates on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” — revealed that the secret to their 39-year sister-like friendship is simple — honesty and openness.
Hart, 45, says, “We’re open enough to share secrets, but we have to trust each other that you’re not going to tell our secrets.”
And besides supporting each other’s careers — Frye says they “totally have each other’s backs” — the two have been there for each other in their personal lives as well.
Hart explains: “[Frye] is also like very pioneering in my life as far as like, ‘You know what? I know you and your new husband need a home. I know someone who’s selling a house you should look at.’ And I bought that house!
“And then like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you guys want to get married in Italy? I know the best little villa you should get married at.’ And then I went and got married at this villa!”
Frye’s favorite memories date back to when they filmed “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” together from 2000 to 2003. She recalls Hart buying all the girls in the cast matching pajamas and setting up a girls’ night for them, complete with mani-pedis and other pamperings.
“For all of us, it just felt like such an indulgence of joy and love and care,” she reminisced.
Hart and Frye say their friendship has evolved along with their lives.
“Sometimes you’ll have a friend that’s just like really cool with your kids,” Hart — mom to Mason, 15, Braydon, 13, and Tucker, 8 — says. “There’s a friend that you can, you know, go on a hike with and just chat all day with. But then then there’s all the different levels that Soleil and I have. Like we can even vacation together.” (Frye is mom to Poet Sienna Rose Goldberg, 15, Jagger Joseph Blue Goldberg, 13, Lyric Sonny Roads Goldberg, 7, and Story Goldberg, 5.)
But while pair mutually describe one another as “adventurous,” Hart clarifies that “we also like to — once we get to that place of the daily adventure — chill on the beach.”
Hart and Frye are encouraging other BFFs to enter to win limited-edition Heluva Good! Best FriendsDIP Line! swag — which Hart and Frye both have — from June 8 until June 22.
