THERE will soon be a mermaid emoji on people's phones – and she's not coming alone, she's bringing a merman, vampires, fairies and elves with her.
The new character is part of the highly anticipated 2017 update, and is sure to satisfy the nation's current lust for all things fishy AND fleshy.
As well as the sea-dwelling babe – who looks remarkably like Ariel from Disney's the Little Mermaid – there's a hunky merman.
Both of the new characters are sat on rocks with waves crashing around them, which are sure to make them the perfect choice when trying to illustrate holiday plans, or add extra emphasis in group chats when confirming you are the proud owner of Primark's new mermaid make-up brushes.
Halloween is also sorted thanks to the addition of two new zombie emojis, plus a Mr and Mrs Dracula.
Fans of Lord of the Rings will be delighted to see a male and female elf emoji join the fun.
Wearing green cloaks with long flaxen hair, it's like Orlando Bloom's Legolas is trapped inside your smartphone, making your messages just a little bit more magical and intense.
But the magic doesn't start and end with the elves – there are also wizard, genie and fairy characters.
The wizarding pair come complete with a magical blue staff, with the female wizard also wearing an equally mysterious blue amulet on her head.
Meanwhile, the fairies and genies are slightly more detailed, and are captured for pixellated eternity in action shots.
The genies are seen seeping from their lamp-shaped homes.
And the fairies float daintily, each of them holding a magical wand.
