Mind-bending optical illusion baffles as it makes ‘brickwork’ in wall look wonky

The latest optical illusion has been really confusing the internet – can you figure out what's going on?

Selco Builders Warehouse released the baffling image which shows brickwork "wobbling", when in fact, it's not.

The illusion is inspired by the renowned café wall illusion, which has not been fully explained to this day.

It has been studied since the 1800s, but psychologists and philosophers are yet to reach a conclusion as to why it's confusing.

The horizontal lines dividing the "bricks" are straight, but to the human eye they seem "wonky".

Almost 100% of people see them wobbling.

The café wall illusion takes its name from when Brit psychologist Richard Gregory noticed it as a pattern in the bricks of a café.

But he may not have been the first person to discover it.

To this day, however, the cause of the illusion is still not well understood.

According to some theories, it might involve interactions between the neuron and the visual cortex of the brain.

Are you looking for more optical illusions?

Recently, an optical illusion puts your eyesight to the test as it asks how many moles can you see.

In the image, it contains three hidden snaps to test your eyes, so can you see all of them without fail?

Most people will be able to see one if not two, but only a few players can spot all three of the moles.
