Mrs Hinch fan reveals ‘genius’ 70p hack to eradicate pesky insect that ‘ruins everything’ in the house | The Sun

AFTER discovering several insects of the same breed in their home, one person begged for help on identifying and getting rid of them quickly.

We’ve all had a scare once or twice in our lives of finding an infestation of some bugs or ants and suddenly being faced with the daunting task of trying to eradicate them.

But it’s not always easy to do so, especially if you’re not even sure what kind of insect you’re dealing with.

That’s why one person took to the Facebook group ‘Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips’ to post a photo of the offender and get advice from other people.

Viewers could see a simple white background in the photo with a small, nearly black insect that had wings.

In the caption, they wrote: “Does anybody know what these little flying creatures are that keep appearing around my house ???

“If so how do I get rid of them ASAP”.

People were quick to reveal exactly what it is they are dealing with as one person shared: “Looks like carpet moth, you can get some spray from Robert Dyas, bit expensive tho. They make holes in your clothes and carpets.” [sic]

Another said: “Carpet moths. Destroy them and any caterpillars you find around your carpet edges.”

“Moths..they come in and are drawn to lights,” a third shared.

A fourth explained: “Carpet moths! I have no carpet left under my sofa or beds, can’t get rid of them!”

A fifth said: “Carpet moths. They come out in the hot weather. They’ll be breeding behind furniture and sofas and eating the carpet fibres until they can fly then they’ll eat your clothes.”

And a sixth added: "These insignificant creatures ruin everything".

While many people suggested sprays and other chemical solutions to get rid of the moths, one person shared a surprisingly affordable alternative.

“Bay leaves,” they simply wrote, which many thought was “genius”.

Bay leaves are a natural remedy to deter moths as they radiate an overpowering strong scent they hate to breathe in.

You can simply place bay leaves in your wardrobe, drawers and places moths tend to gather.

Alternatively, you can have bags of dried bay leaves to place around the house.
