A mum fed up with having to call her children downstairs all the time has come up with an ingenious parenting trick.

Laura Cunniff, from Plymouth, Devon, lives with her two children and her partner Adrian, as well as his two children.

In the video, shared on Laura and Adrian's @inside_our_riverside TikTok channel, the mum shows numerous doorbells set up in the home.

She says there is a doorbell positioned in each of the four bedrooms and when she presses it, the kids all come running down the stairs.

The 30-year-old mum told Daily Star she came up with the idea because their youngest son is autistic and very noise sensitive.

Whenever she would call the children, he would be "grabbing his ears" in discomfort so she decided to try something a bit different.

Laura said: "We had an old doorbell from our previous house and we tried it out and it worked a treat so we put one in each of the three older children's rooms.

"It’s brilliant because the noise of the bell cuts through their headphones."

The video of the hack was watched more than 200,000 times and many people said it was a great idea.

One parent commented: "I've done this and it works great. Less shouting and if they ignore I just keep pressing until they appear."

"Yeah I did this for my 15 year old he just unplugged it," wrote a second user.

A third viewer said: "I did this to my kids and they stopped taking notice."

Someone else commented: "I just tell Alexa to make an announcement and it goes off in every room of the house."

"I just ring mine and say dinner and hang up love the ring idea though," said another person.

The family is also on Instagram where they share posts about their life in the home they are renovating.
