DEAR DEIDRE: FRIENDS have told me dodgy stuff about a guy I’ve been seeing. I have been warned to stay away from him but I am hooked. I can’t get enough of him.
I’m 28 and he’s 31. We met online a month ago. I asked a friend if he knew of him after we had been out a few times and it turned out he did, but not for good reasons. He told me of some bad stuff he’s done in the past.
I spoke to him about it and he either denied it, twisted it or said he wants to move on from his past.
A few other friends have warned me off him too. I know he’s dodgy but I think that’s why I keep going back for more.
My head is telling me to end it but my heart is starting to fall for him.
Should I give him the benefit of the doubt?

DEIDRE SAYS: I’ll worry for you if you do. You’re feeling attracted by his riskiness, not by his good heart or trustworthiness.
You know he’s likely to treat you badly so it’s important to start valuing yourself and what you have to offer so you can fall for a man who will be caring.
