DEAR DEIDRE: MY girlfriend becomes angry if I tell her I want to spend time gaming with my friends.
I am 22 and my girlfriend is 20. We have been together for six months.
Things are great when we are together, but when we chat on the phone the arguments start.

We can be on the phone for an hour, but if I say I want to hang up so I can spend time with my friends playing games, she accuses me of favouring them over her.
I always answer her calls and we see each other two or three times a week.
We spend around ten hours a week on the phone to one another, mostly twice a day, so it’s not as if we don’t talk.
But she moans she’s a gaming widow.
DEIDRE SAYS: She does sound very insecure. You aren’t doing anything wrong by spending time with your mates.
Don’t give in to her demands as they will just escalate.
Encourage her to develop new interests so she has a sense of identity apart from you.
And make time to read my support pack Coping With Jealousy together.
