DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN I mentioned changing the bedding, my wife snapped back: “If you want to change it, don’t let me stop you.”
She is 37 and I’m 40. I’m no male chauvinist – we are both working adults so I believe that the chores should be split. But when I changed the bedding last time, she yelled at me for interfering and I felt belittled.

It’s now been a bit too long for me and the sheets are beginning to smell.
I can’t stand sleeping in grubby sheets. I feel I can’t do right for doing wrong. She baffles me sometimes.
How am I supposed to approach her about it? I really don’t know.
DEIDRE SAYS: She may just have old-fashioned views that although she’s working, she should be running the house too.
Find a moment to tell her that you love her and you know she wants to do everything, but you’re happy to split the chores and she shouldn’t get upset.
Then ask her whether she will help you to change the bedding ready for an evening of passion.
