Karl and Susan Kennedy (Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne) were among those left heartbroken in Neighbours, following the untimely death of Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland).
The soap icons, as viewers know, have been like parents to Hendrix, taking him in to look after him when he had no one else, and over the years, they supported him every step of the way.
Hendrix, however, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis earlier this year, and his only treatment option was a lung transplant, which he received this week.
But despite a glimmer of hope, tragedy ensued, as Hendrix’s body rejected the lung transplant, leaving him with only hours to live.
He spent the last few moments of his life telling his loved ones, including Karl, Susan and wife Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone) just how much he loved them, before passing away in heartbreaking scenes.
Tuesday’s (June 14) edition of the Channel 5 soap picked up shortly after his tragic death, with Mackenzie refusing to leave his bedside.
Toadie (Ryan Moloney) intervened, and escorted a heartbroken Mack out of the room.
Karl and Susan, meanwhile, returned home, where they embraced tenant Levi Canning (Richie Morris), before breaking down in tears over the tragic loss.
The duo would, however, receive a big shock, as would all of Hendrix’s loved ones, as Zara Zelwyn (Freya Van Dyke) revealed that Hendrix had asked her to record a video message, one in which he revealed plans for his memorial service.
Susan, Karl and Mackenzie watched the video in floods of tears, as they saw their beloved Hendrix one final time.
No, you’re crying.
Neighbours continues Wednesday June 15 at 1:45pm and 6pm on Channel 5.
