Paris Hilton shocked fans last month when she revealed thatshe’d welcomed her first child via surrogate with her husband Carter Reum.
The 42 year old,who recently threw a star-studded birthday party where celebs including Rebel Wilson were guests, took to Instagram on 24 January to share the happy news.
Sharing a snap of her son’s hand wrapped around her thumb, she wrote: “You are already loved beyond words” alongside a blue heart emoji.
And now, four weeks after making the surprise announcement, the DJ and socialite has finally told fans what her little tot’s name is – and it’s very empowering indeed.
In a clip to promote her upcoming memoir, Paris read an extract from the highly anticipated book and revealed to her 21 million followers what she’d named her son.
“We plan to name him Phoenix. A name that I decided on years ago when I was searching cities, countries and states on a map,” she said.
“Looking for something to go with Paris and London, Phoenix has a good few pop culture reference points, but more important it's the bird that flames out and rises from the ashes to fly again.”
Paris added: “My beautiful baby boy's name is Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum and Carter and I are so proud to welcome him into the world.”
As Paris mentioned in the audio clip, Phoenix has mythological connotations and is often associated with the Greek and Egyptian myth which saw an immortal bird rise from the ashes. As a result, the mythological creature is seen to symbolise hope, growth and transformation.
According to baby name websiteNameberry, Phoenix is a gender neutral name, meaning that it’s perfect for any parents looking to give their child a truly inspiring name.
As a city in Arizona in the United States, Phoenix is also great for anyone who is a fan of locations as names, making for a more unique option compared to monikers such as Austin or Brooklyn.
Paris isn’t the only celebrity to choose the name for her baby however as Spice Girls star Mel B has a 24 year old daughter called Phoenix.
While Paris is yet to say why she chose Barron as a middle name for her son, it’s likely that the name is a tribute to her late grandfather Barron Hilton who passed away four years ago.
Meanwhile, the name itself is great for the little tot and, according toThe Bump, means “warrior” or “noble man”.
