Past and present Love Islanders with famous families including Ronan Keatings son

With Love Island ’s eighth series now well underway and the bombshells whisked off to Casa Amor, many fans have turned their attention towards the latest round of singles hoping to turn islanders' heads, including some with very famous connections.

So far this series, viewers have been treated to three celebrity hopefuls in search of love, including 26 year old Antigoni Buxton, the daughter of chef Tonia Buxton, Gemma Owen, 19, the international dressage rider who boasts former England player Michael Owen as her dad and even Liam Llewellyn, 22, whose dad David Llewellyn represented Wales in the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

Yet the celebrity connections don’t just stop there, as Ronan Keating ’s son Jack Keating, 23, has become the latest contestant to join the Islanders as he hopes to find love in Mallorca.

Ahead of his introduction to the girls, who were promised a "girls night out" with cocktails when in fact they were driven to the second villa, we look back at some of the other Islanders over the years who have entered the villa with a very impressive list of celebrity relatives.

Antigoni Buxton

Originally from Cyprus, 26 year old Antigoni entered the villa in 2022 in the hope of finding love after being single for around 18 months.

The blonde bombshell, who is a talented musician and singer by trade, comes from a famous family to boot, as her mother is none other than celebrity chef and TV presenter Tonia Buxton.

However, if that family connection wasn’t enough, Antigoni has also rubbed shoulders with plenty of famous faces thanks to her music career, with a recent launch party for her new single even seeing her schmooze with stars such as boxer Anthony Joshua and YouTube stars Chunkz and Yung Filly.

Dani Dyer

Easily one of the most well-known contestants with a celebrity connection was 2018 cast member Dani Dyer.

Up front about her celebrity connection from the very beginning, 25 year old Dani wasted no time in letting the world know she was the daughter of Danny Dyer, an actor well known for his roles in both The Business and Eastenders.

Danny plays the memorable role of Mick Carter in the popular BBC soap, a role which he is set to keep until his upcoming departure at Christmas 2022.

Since appearing on Love Island (and winning), Dani has continued to remain in the public eye, and even recently launched a podcast series with her famous dad.

Belle Hassan

24 year old Belle Hassan dazzled viewers at home as she first entered the villa on day 30 of the 2019 series of Love Island, yet like several of her fellow contestants, Belle also came from a celebrity background.

While her makeup artist day job could easily have fooled viewers at home, Belle is actually the daughter of actor Tamer Hassan, a British star best known for his work opposite Danny Dyer in The Football Factor and shows such as Game of Thrones and NCIS.

Tommy Fury

Fan favourite Tommy Fury, 23, found love with Molly-Mae-Hague back in the 2019 series of Love Island, but the boxer was no stranger to the spotlight even before entering the villa, as his famous brother is heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury.

Coming from strong fighting stock, both Tyson and the brothers’ dad John Fury have made a name for themselves on the professional boxing circuit, with their fanbase now extending all around the globe.

Jack Keating

A late entrant to this year’s villa thanks to his arrival at Casa Amor, 23 year old Jack Keating is no stranger to fame, as his dad is singer and 90’s boyband star Ronan Keating, of Boyzone fame.

Ronan originally topped the charts between 1993 and 1999 when he was one of five members to make up the iconic boyband.

However after the group disbanded, Ronan continued to top the charts as a solo artist in his own right, penning and performing multiple smash-hit tracks which included When You Say Nothing At All, which featuring in Notting Hill.

Describing his dad as his “best mate” Jack revealed that he has been “buzzing” about his appearance on the show and will definitely be tuning in to see his antics on screen.

Liam Llewellyn

22 year old Welsh heartthrob Liam Llewellyn was another contestant hoping to find love in the 2022 series of Love Island. Despite Liam’s decision to cut his time in the villa short, the Strength & Conditioning graduate still left quite the impression on fans at home, all while never revealing his celebrity connection.

Although he never revealed his famous dad on the show, Liam is actually the son of David Llewellyn, a member of the Welsh 1999 Rugby World Cup team.

Wales sadly didn’t win the tournament that year, but they did make it to the quarter-finals, earning the respect of many fans as they promoted a real sense of Welsh pride and passion for the sport.

Gemma Owen

An international dressage rider in her own right, 19 year old Gemma Owen is no stranger to famous faces on the global sporting circuit, but while many viewers may not have recognised her for her sporting achievements, they have certainly recognised her famous dad, footballer Michael Owen.

Originally starting his professional career with Liverpool FC, Michael remained with the club for eight years, before moving to play for a number of other teams including Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City.

During his career Michael also played for England on the international stage, frequently playing as striker at matches that included the 1998,2002 and 2006 World Cups, along with Euro 2000 and 2004.

Sophie Piper

23 year old Sophie Piper first appeared in the 2020 Winter series of Love Island where she bore a striking resemblance to her older sister former Saturdays singer Rochelle Hulmes.

These days, you might recognise Rochelle more from her daytime presenting gig on The Morning or co-presenting The Hit List, with her husband Marvin Hulmes, but the similarity to her sister continues to echo in many of Sophie’s social media posts, as the two sisters share a similar sense of style.

Curtis Pritchard

If there was an award for the most memorable entrance into the villa, it has to be Curtis Pritchard as he Samba’d his way into Love Island 2019, alongside fellow contestant Tommy Fury.

While the entrance certainly grabbed the attention of fans, it came as no surprise to some viewers, considering Curtis worked as a professional dancer prior to appearing on the show.

Dancing genes appear to run in the family too, as Curtis’ older brother AJ Pritchard, took a starring role on Strictly Come Dancing for four years as one of the professional dancers tasked with trying to bring home the Glitterball trophy for his celebrity dancer partner.

Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9pm.
