The fact was brought up on Twitter this week as someone shared a photo of the Wall's logo and asked: "What's the name of this ice cream brand in your country?"

Some were baffled as one person asked: "It has different names?," as another replied: "Apparently, yes."

While others chimed in to say what it was called in their country.

"In my country, it's named 'Ola'," wrote one.

While another added: "Kibon."

Another declared: "Miko," as a fourth wrote: "Selecta."

The tweet has since gone viral – racking up more than 463,000 views.

According to the brand's Wikipedia page, the company actually has 27 different names around the world.

'Ola' is used in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and South Africa, whereas Olá is used in Portugal, Cape Verde and Macau.

Meanwhile, 'Kibon' is used in Brazil, Argentina and Falkland Islands.

'Miko', is the name in Egypt, France and Morocco, while 'Selecta' is for Philippines, Comoros and Tanzania.

Others include 'Bresler' in Chile and Bolivia, 'Frigo' in Spain and 'Good Humor' in the US, as well as 'Frisko' in Demark, GB Glace in Sweeden and HB in Ireland.

Wall's was founded in 1786 by Richard Wall, when he opened a butcher's stall in St James's Market, London. The business, which was led by Richard's grandson Thomas Wall II in the 1990s had to lay off staff in the summer every yeah as demand for its sausages, pies and meat fell.

By 1922 the business had been jointly bought by Lever Brothers and Margarine Unie and Unilever continues to use the brand for ice cream in the UK.

Walls has become part of the company's international Heartbrand strategy, where it retains its local ice cream brand but shares one logo and most of the product's lineup

Products known to the brand include Cornetto, Magnum and Viennetta.

Talk about reinventing yourself, eh?
