Now in case you're wondering the reason, it was all to do with the killer clown craze which hit the UK and US.
The first incidents occurred across the pond, but the phenomenon quickly spread to other parts of the world.
In the UK, Thames Valley Police received 14 reports of people being intimidated by clowns in just two days.
Meanwhile, Gloucestershire Police were called six times in 48 hours.
While most of the activity involved pranksters trying to scare people, others included criminal activity.
It didn't take long for McDonald's to take action which meant Ronald McDonald was taken off advertising in the UK.
A statement on the restaurant's website at the time said it was due to the "clown sightings in communities".
It added: "We're afraid Ronald McDonald no longer appears in McDonald's UK advertising, but he is still very busy working for us.
"He often travels up and down the country to help promote some of our exciting new activities and visits our restaurants to make sure everyone is enjoying their meals."
