People have only just found out why the edges on Ritz Crackers are ridged – and they actually serve a purpose beyond looking nice.
The company took to TikTok on their @theritzcrackersofficial account and revealed the reason for the scalloped edges, leaving their customers' minds blown.
In the clip, which has gained more than 3.2million views, the brand explained that the edges of the cracker could be used to cut pieces of cheese.

Fans of the savoury snack were left baffled as Ritz showed the design up close, and explained: "What people think the edges on RITZ Crackers are for: wow, so pretty, aesthetic, beautiful scallops.
"What they're actually for…"
The video proceeded to demonstrate how the edges of the cracker could be used to cut a slice of cheese into smaller pieces by rolling it along like a pizza cutter a few times.
The cheese was then split in half and was able to fit perfectly on top of the cracker. Unsurprisingly, the clip proved hugely popular and attracted more than 50,000 likes.
But it opinions on TikTok as some users loved the idea but others couldn't believe that was the reason.
One person wrote: "Ritz, you are making me question my entire existence."
Another commented: "It won't work, they break too easy."
A third said: "Well, I guess you learn something new every day."
A fourth viewer called out the brand and said: "That's not what they're for. You just made that up."

The news comes after people noticed that on a glass bottle of Heinz tomato ketchup that there is a number 57 above the label, just below the neck – and the reason why was finally explained.
Many people have often thought that this represents the various different products Heinz makes – however it also has another use.
Heinz says that the spot is the perfect place to tap on the bottle when you're struggling to get ketchup out.
