People left distracted by dead food in Tory Christmas party picture

The nation has been left shocked again after a photo of a 'raucous' Tory Christmas party held last year emerged.

The photograph, which was revealed by The Mirror, shows 24 people crowded together – meaning that they were blatantly breaching lockdown rules.

However, as well as the huge rule breaks, people have been left distracted by something else – the food that was on offer at the party.

Many people have gone online to say that the food looks 'dead' – and don't understand why the people in the photo would risk backlash over such lacklustre catering.

One person exclaimed online: "That food looks dead," as another chimed in: "Risked it for that dead food."

A third added: "The food on the side is more disgraceful than the people there."

While a fourth chimed in: "The food is so dry."

It's not clear from the photo what the food actually is, however it appears to be an assortment on beige-coloured canapés.

The party, which was thrown by Tory aides at the party’s Westminster HQ, took place last year, when the public wasn't allowed to mingle.

It was organised by senior party member Shaun Bailey’s mayoral campaign and took place on December 14 last year, when London was in Tier 2, which banned any social mixing between households indoors.

After he was approached by the Mirror, Mr Bailey dramatically quit as chair of the London Assembly’s police and crime committee.
