Peter Morgan’s play has undergone a slight shift of emphasis since its debut at The Almeida.
The story of how Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky (Tom Hollander) facilitated the rise of Vladimir Putin (Will Keen) is now less focused on Hollander’s Berezovsky – who has dialled down his original performance – and more on Keen’s Putin who seems to have risen in dramatic stature.
This shift in perception may be the result of the larger venue but the prospect of seeing living and dead characters play out power games of global significance still makes the blood run cold.
