A new public photography exhibition that shines a light on mental health awareness has opened in London.
From March 9 until April 6, ‘Art of London presents Take a Moment 2022’ at Piccadilly Circus is encouraging people to take time out of their day to check in on their mental health.
The exhibition, which was opened by TV doctor Dr Ranj Singh, is made of over 100 celebrity portraits and has been projected onto the Piccadilly Lights – an attraction which is seen by around 56 million people per year.
Among the portraits are images of famous faces closing their eyes for mental health, including Holly Willoughby, Ant and Dec, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.
A-listers including Kate Moss, Helena Bonham Carter and Love Island’s Dr Alex George – who has openly spoken about his relationship with mental health – also feature in the exhibition.
The world-class art exhibition is available to see now for four weeks, and will culminate in early April with a ten-minute video featuring hundreds of celebrity and public portraits.
The display, which has been curated by artist and photographer Ray Burmiston and supported by Westminster City Council, will take over Piccadilly Lights but will also be exhibited physically in a free to enter gallery directly underneath.
For anyone wishing to enter the physical gallery, the space is open between 11am and 7pm.
And as part of the installation, members of the public are being encouraged to get involved.
Anyone who views the exhibition is welcome to snap a selfie and to share their own moment of reflection on Instagram to help get the nation talking and making time for their mental health.
Speaking of the exhibition, TV doctor Dr Ranj Singh said: “I’m delighted to launch and feature in Art of London and Ray Burmiston’s stunning photography exhibition, which will help remind everyone to take a moment each day to look after their mental health.
“This powerful photography project is an important reminder to pause and address our feelings and mental health – go see it and don’t forget to take a selfie for Instagram!”
Ray Burmiston added: “Over the years I’ve been fortunate to work with some incredibly talented people who have not only allowed me to capture their ‘moment’ but also to share it as part of this exhibition.
“It fills me with immense pride, that the idea of everyone taking a moment together, has become a reality on Piccadilly Lights, the biggest stage London has to offer.”
The exhibition will run at Piccadilly Lights from March 9 to April 6.
