THE pound slipped against the dollar and the euro this morning following a terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena.
The pound fell as low as $1.2954 in morning trade in London, down 0.3 per cent on the day, before recovering to trade only slightly lower at $1.2993.
The pound was 0.2 per cent lower at 86.61 pence per euro – an eight week low.
Campaigning ahead of the June 8 general election was suspended after at least 22 people, including some children, were killed overnight.
The attack is the worst in the UK since 56 people were killed in the July 7 London bombings in 2005.
The police have said it was carried out by one man who died at the scene after detonating an explosive device.
