Prince Harry's Marriage Has 'Unleashed' His 'Unresolved Issues' With Princess Diana, Expert Claims

In 2018, Prince Harry married American actor Meghan Markle. Many onlookers supported the marriage, and millions of people around the world tuned in to see their spectacular wedding.

However, according to a royal expert, Harry and Meghan’s marriage has also brought on other conflicting emotions. Reportedly, Harry has been dealing with “unresolved issues” with Princess Diana and her death.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been trying to honor Princess Diana

Harry and Meghan have made it no secret that they are thinking about the late Princess Diana in many things they do.

For example, the couple gave their second child, Lilibet, the middle name “Diana.” In an April 2022 interview with Hoda Kotb, Harry also shared that he talks to his son about Grandma Diana.

Additionally, Harry and Meghan sometimes work with charities that Diana worked with, such as the landmine removal organization HALO Trust and the HIV/AIDS organization Terrence Higgins Trust.

“I feel her presence in almost everything that I do now, but definitely more so in the last two years than ever before, without a question,” he told Kotb.

Prince Harry’s marriage has reportedly ‘unleashed’ his unresolved issues’ with Princess Diana’s death

According to royal author and photographer Ian Lloyd, Harry’s marriage to Meghan has made the Duke of Sussex more “fulfilled” in life.

“I think had he not met Meghan, he would have carried on in this country, doing the Invictus Games and other sorts of avenues, but, perhaps, sort of increasingly unfulfilled,” Lloyd said (via Express).

However, the marriage has also allegedly brought forth “resentment” and “unresolved issues” for Harry. He explained, “Marriage has given him personal fulfilment, but it’s also unleashed this pent-up tension from his unresolved issues from the death of Diana and his resentment of the press.”

In interviews, Harry has often compared the press’ treatment of Meghan to the press’ treatment of Diana in the 1980s and 1990s. Harry has also expressed concerns for Meghan and his children’s safety.

Another expert thinks Prince Harry ‘idolized’ his mother

Harry was 12 when Diana died in 1997. According to author Tina Brown, Harry may have “idolized” his mother and “understood her less” than Prince William did.

“The two-year age gap between them was critical in forging their distinctive worldviews and, equally so, in shaping their perceptions of their mother,” Brown wrote of the two brothers in an article for Vanity Fair.

Additionally, author Ingrid Seward once said that William “shielded” Harry from Diana’s “unhappiness.”

“Any of these very well-known stories which people that follow these things will remember like when Diana locked herself in the bathroom and was crying her eyes out, William pushed tissues under the door,” Seward said.

She added, “And then there’s another story which I think Diana herself told on Panorama about when she was very unhappy William would go and buy her chocolates and she would tell William about her unhappiness. So this young man, he was 14 or something at the time, probably less 13/14, was taking on his mother’s unhappiness and he shielded Harry from all that.”
