Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth are divorcing because their marriage had become platonic, Page Six is told.

“There’s no big scandal or drama, just two people who essentially became co-parents and don’t really have any romantic feelings for each other anymore,” an insider shared with us after the actress and the talent agent announced the news Friday.

A second source pointed out that the two have not yet filed for divorce and assured us they “will keep working together.”

According to the first source, the Oscar winner, 47, “once liked the fact that [Toth] was just a solid, dependable and stable guy,” which was refreshing after “years of s–t” with her first husband, Ryan Phillippe.

In 1999, when she was 23 years old and already pregnant with their first child, Witherspoon married her “Cruel Intentions” co-star.

She and Phillippe, 48, went on to welcome daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19, before separating in 2006. Their divorce was finalized in 2008.

After a few bumps in the road, which they’ve each attributed to being so young when they decided to tie the knot and start a family, the exes are now able to co-parent as friends.

In 2007, Witherspoon struck up a romance with her “Rendition” co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, whom our first insider claimed was “sort of clingy by the end.” The “Legally Blonde” star, who once described the 42-year-old actor as “very supportive,” broke things off in 2009.

“The relative safety and security of Jim was super appealing [in the beginning],” our first source said of the famed booker, 52, whom Witherspoon wed in 2011 after dating for about a year. The duo publicized their plans to go their separate ways just two days shy of their 12th wedding anniversary.

By the end of their union, our first insider said there was “zero spark and zero romance left” between the two, who share 10-year-old son Tennessee.

“She’s also become so much more powerful than she was when they married and has expanded her areas of interest in so many ways,” the first source added.

The acclaimed actress notably sold her media business, Hello Sunshine, in 2021 at a reported valuation of $900 million.

But our second source emphasized that Toth is “a big part of Hello Sunshine” as well as “across other businesses and boards.”

“They built a lot together,” the second source said, pointing out that the former flames also still share a love of sports and running.

Our second source made sure to note that Witherspoon and Toth “had a really amazing 12 years” but that “their lives moved in a way that made them want to make this decision together.”

“It’s been really talked about and thought about and was a mutually worked-out situation,” the second insider added, echoing Witherspoon’s statement on the matter. “The timing is always going to be hard to bring it into public eye.

“Even in the best and friendliest of circumstances, it’s hard for any family to go through.”

Our second source insisted that the duo are “both completely laser-focused” on their partnerships as parents and colleagues.
