FEELING like you’re always on the go?
Spare a thought for tomorrow's London Marathon competitors — and good luck to Sun Saver Donna Pugh, who is among the runners on the 26.2-mile route.
Whether you’re taking part or working out in your own way, you can make savings with my low-cost, post-exercise refuelling ideas.
SPAGHETTI, SET, GO: Deliveroo and Italian fast-food chain Coco di Mama have got together to offer £5 off pasta dishes this weekend. Claim via the Deliveroo app using code RUNPASTA5.
Redeemable against any dishes on the menu, including the ham hock carbonara, slow-cooked bolognese, vegan lentil ragu and pesto spicy pollo.
COCO CRAZY: Electrolyte drinks can replace salts lost during a run. Coconut water is a great option, and while one litre of Vita Coco will set you back £3.50 at Sainsbury’s, the same volume of Asda’s UFC Refresh coconut water (usually found in the World Foods aisle) is half the price at just £1.75.
GO NUTS: Who doesn’t love peanut butter? It’s a delicious and healthy post-workout snack. ManiLife’s one is my favourite and it has just added a delightful rich cocoa smooth peanut butter, RRP £3.99, to its range.
However, Asda now does a 700g tub of its crunchy own-brand one for £1.89, which is a steal — and goes a long, long way. You can also get 280g Meridian peanut butter for £1.25, down from £2.50, at Tesco with a Clubcard.
SWEET FINISH: Head over to theproteinworks.com to pick up a box of 12 protein cookies that contain a huge 18g of protein in each one. That should help if you’re going on a run or have just done one. They’re reduced from £23.99 per box to £19.19.
Download The Sun Cashback app and you’ll get five per cent back on your order, so why not stock up on the whey protein powder too — £15.99 down from £31.99 for 600g. That’s a £16 saving and your five per cent cashback on top. Result.
