Royal fans cringe over moment between Meghan and William in old clip

Royal watchers have spotted an “awkward” interaction between Meghan Markle and Prince William as the royals attended a Christmas Day service in 2018. The moment was captured shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and William and Catherine took a stroll to a church service on Sandringham Estate.

The couples were greeted by hundreds of onlookers as they walked side by side on their way to the Christmas services, amid reports of growing tension in the family.

Resurfaced clips of the event have now garnered attention online after highlighting a body language moment from Meghan to her brother-in-law William. Fans claim the Prince was avoiding his sister-in-law’s gaze.

The TikTok video, which has garnered nearly 48,000 likes so far, was captioned: “Remember that Christmas when Meghan kept trying to catch William’s eye and chat with him but he was having none of it?”

The viral post shows two instances where Meghan Markle appears to look in the direction of Prince William, who doesn’t seem to meet the Duchess’s eye.

“Haha, Will was like don’t even look in my direction. He knew all about her,” wrote one person in the comments.

“I’m not a body language expert, but damn, I feeeeeeeeel that,” commented another viewer.

“She was trying to be part of the family and they were having none of that,” pointed out a third.

Body language experts have previously gleaned a great deal about the relationship status of the royals from the public outing on Sandringham Estate.

Behavioural analyst expert Judi James pointed out that the “speculation about a rift between Meghan and Kate was rife” at the time.

In a previous conversation with Express.co.uk, the expert said that Meghan had displayed clues that she was not comfortable on the day.

She explained: “When it should really have been William and Harry performing the challenging ‘we’re really best mates’ body language display, it was Kate and Meghan who drew the short straw and stepped bravely up to the plate instead.”

James added that Meghan has played “along quite well” as the quad walked together on their way to Sandringham’s St Mary Magdalene Church.

“Nobody could blame her for not wanting to play ball when it wasn’t really Late or her who was at fault,” she noted.
