Sarah Ferguson has spoken of her "love" for her former husband Prince Andrew, vowing to "stay by his side" as he faces fresh scrutiny over his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
In an interview with the French magazine Madame Figaro, the Duchess of York said that she still loves her former husband Prince Andrew, before describing herself as "maybe the most persecuted woman in the history of the royal family".
"But I'm still here," the 62 year old continued. "The bruised reed that doesn't break is in my DNA."
Though Sarah and the Duke of York divorced in 1996, the two have maintained a close bond since their separation and live together at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Speaking of her ex-husband, the duchess shared her fondness for Andrew.
“I loved him and I still love him today, I will stay by his side, because I believe in him, he is a good man,” she said.
Promoting her latest novel, Her Heart for a Compass, the Duchess of York admitted that her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie were her priorities and that being a mother was her greatest achievement.
Appearing on The One Show in August, Sarah shared her excitement at becoming a grandmother to her oldest grandchild, August.
“I've had sisters, daughters, and now it's Barbies put to one side. Now I've got to get into cars and trucks and engines… although, it has to be said, if lovely August wants Barbies, we will bring the Barbies back out,” she said.
“I'm so lucky, Eugenie is a great mum, everyone says: 'You must be so excited about your grandson' and I say: 'No, I'm so proud of my daughter.' She's a great mother and Beatrice is about to…,” Sarah added.
Since her eldest daughter Beatrice gave birth to daughter Sienna in September, the Duchess of York now has two grandchildren.

Having written her book during lockdown, Sarah said that the writing process was extremely relaxing and that it had helped to increase her self-esteem.
Though she has written several books in the past, including memoirs and children’s books, Her Heart for a Compass is the first novel she’s written for an adult audience.
According to the MailOnline, the mother of two has also been approached by a French production company about movie rights for the novel, and would like to see it turned into a French film starring Lea Seydoux.
