Save cash by fixing your winter beauty woes with these budget friendly tips — plus win £50,000 in the Sun Savers raffle – The Sun

DON’T lose beauty sleep over those irritating winter ailments. From cracked hands to frizzy hair, the cold weather can bring a whole load of problems.

But I know plenty of ways to tackle them. And these tips use things you’ll probably have lying round the house already — saving you splashing out.

CHAPPED LIPS: To rehydrate, rub a slice of cucumber over your lips for ten minutes. Or chill a green tea bag in the fridge and use that for five minutes. You’ll save on Vaseline, 95p at Superdrug. For flaky lips, whip up an at-home exfoliator by mixing honey and sugar. SAVE: 95p on Vaseline

CRACKING HANDS: Even Boots’ cheapest hand cream will set you back £1.49. Milk has anti-inflammatory properties, so try soaking a flannel with it and applying to hands. Just be careful with sensitive skin — the lactic acid may sting. Cream or butter should also work. SAVE: £1.49 on hand cream

RED NOSE: Got a cold? After blowing, dampen a tissue and wipe along your nostrils to help prevent drying. A home sauna is a nice option — Argos’s Visiq facial sauna costs £18.99. Instead, fill a large bowl with boiling water, put a towel over your head and place your face five to ten inches away from the steam. SAVE: £18.99 on a facial sauna

DRY SKIN: A foodie face mask is great for hydration. Stir half a smashed avocado with a tablespoon of honey, apply and leave for ten to 15 minutes. It sounds odd, but it’s basically a cheaper version of TonyMoly’s avocado sheet mask, £5 at Boots. SAVE: £5 on a face mask

FRIZZY HAIR: A weekly mask can really reduce static, but there’s no need to splash out on products such as Garnier’s Ultimate Blends hair mask at £6.99. Instead, purée a banana with olive oil or honey, work into your locks and cover with a plastic shower cap (Boots has a three-pack for £1.75). Leave for 20 minutes. SAVE: £5.24 on a hair mask
