Schoolboys film bizarre ritual complete with 'blood and chanting'

Mother claims her son, 14, filmed a bloody ritual in an East Sussex wood and participants threatened to ‘chop off his head’ when they spotted him – but viewers are torn over whether it was ‘Satanists’ or harmless horseplay

  • Bizarre video purportedly shows a bloody ritual ‘deep’ in an East Sussex wood
  • Clip was filmed by a 14-year-old boy, whose mother shared it on Mumsnet
  • Viewers were divided over what it was, with some saying it was ‘Satanic’

This bizarre video purportedly shows a group of people carrying out a bloody, candlelit ritual ‘deep’ in an East Sussex wood.

The short clip was taken by a 14-year-old boy and his three friends who claim to have come across the bizarre scene while walking.

Two of the four people were ‘dressed in black like priests’. The others were dressed ‘normally’ and were ‘bleeding from their arms’, according to the boy’s mother.

The group were overheard ‘mumbling’ and ‘chanting’ with their arms outstretched before threatening to ‘chop the boys’ heads off’ after they were caught filming.

The teenager’s mother shared the clip on Mumsnet, where she asked for help identifying what she had witnessed, saying her son was ‘shaken’ by the incident.

Users, including self-described Satanists, were divided over whether it was a sinister ‘Satanic’ ritual, or simply harmless fun that went too far when the boys were threatened.

One posted: ‘Black magic ritual would be my bet, though not an organised group, as it’s such a small gathering.’

Another wrote: ‘Probably a bunch of idiots playing pretend tbh. People are weird. I’d tell the police though. And ban my child from the woods. Children shouldn’t be walking ‘Deep in the woods’ anyway surely?’

A third added: ‘May not be Satanic, as such (not everyone believes in Satan, he is a concept of the Abrahamic religions), but a blood sacrifice likely means it’s not a ritual calling in the light.’

A fourth suggested: ‘Some teenagers filming a Halloween movie with fake blood. They said the threat because they were messing around and didn’t actually mean it. That’s my guess…’

The blurry clip appears to show a person dressed in white, facing away from the camera.

On the ground, apparently in the middle of the group, is a small pumpkin, candles and markings on the ground.

Explaining the situation, the mother wrote: ‘My [son, 14] and his friends went for a walk deep in the woods yesterday. They came across four people standing in a circle with candles and markings on the ground.

‘Two were dressed in all black, very smart, like priests. The other two were in normal clothes and were bleeding from their arms. My son said he saw them cut themselves, they were mumbling something inaudible while the two in all black held their arms in the air and chanted.

‘When they realised they were being watched one of the people in black told the boys they were going to cut their heads off if they don’t leave. I know it’s true because one of the kids filmed it and I’ve watched it. Wtf!?’

After being asked by the group, the mother shared screengrabs and part of the clip to the forum, although she admitted anything that would identify her son or his friends.

She explained she ‘reported’ the video to police via 101 after her son showed her the video.
