Families on soap dramas are notoriously hard to keep up with. Whether it's the Mitchell's on BBC One's EastEnders or the Platt's on ITV's Coronation Street, family affairs on-screen get more complicated week upon week, let alone year by year. Even the most loyal viewers would be forgiven for struggling to keep tabs on their favourite characters.
But as it turns out, it's not just life on the cobbles or on Albert Square that can take us by suprise. In fact off-screen some of the best soap stars have some very unexpected personal lives, too.
For example, did you these soap stars are siblings in real life?
Jamie Lomas and Charley Webb
Jamie Lomas took part in I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, but fans are more used to seeing the actor on Hollyoaks.
But Jamie isn't the only one in his family to take up a soap acting career, as sister Charley Webb stars as Debbie Dingle on ITV's Emmerdale.
Jamie's younger sibling, Danny Webb, was also the first ever Aaron Livesy on Emmerdale between 2003 and 2006, and Lucy Webb, 13, appeared as baby Jon Dingle between 2004 and 2007 when she was just tiny.
Something in the genes? We think so.
Joe and Shana Swash
Stacey Solomon's beau, the former king of the jungle, first made a name for himself hanging around Albert Square.
Joe Swash played Mickey Miller between 2005 and 2011, and real life sister Shana played his on screen sister Demi, too.
Nick and John Pickard
Tony Hutchinson has been a Hollyoaks favourite for a long time, and when Nick Pickard's character met with his long lost on-screen brother, there was only one person for the job.
Between 2005 to 2010, John Pickard played Tony’s brother Dom. Can you spot the similarity?
Adam and Ryan Thomas
Between them, brothers Adam Thomas, Ryan Thomas and Scott Thomas have taken up a lot of TV time.
Eldest Ryan played Jason Grimshaw on Corrie between 2000 and 2016. More recently, Lucy Mecklenburgh's fiance has moved to Australia to take part in Neighbours.
Meanwhile Adam played Adam Barton in Emmerdale from 2009 to 2018.
Amy and Sally Walsh
Actress Amy Walsh joined Emmerdale as Tracy Metcalfe back in 2014.
Her sister, Sally, also starred as Lyn Hutchinson in Emmerdale between 1997 and 2000.
The siblings also have another famous sister, former Girls Aloud singer Kimberly Walsh.
Sam, Emily and Joseph Aston
While Sam Aston may be loved by soap fans thanks to his long standing role as Chesney Brown in Coronation Street, he’s not the only Aston family member to be familiar faces on our screens.
In fact his older sister Emily also made the cobbles her home as she starred as Rebecca Palmer for 51 episodes between 1996 and 1997.
Elsewhere, Sam’s brother Joseph also starred on Corrie in 2000 when he appeared as a young Tommy Duckworth.
