A woman who claimed she would rather “die hot than live ugly” has now been met with a cancer scare after using sunbeds.
Stella, who goes by the username @thisisntstellah, first went viral on TikTok after she declared she wouldn’t mind cutting 10 years off her life in order to look “hot” by using tanning beds.
But since she posted the clip that racked up a barrage of negative comments from those online, Stella has now shared that she is undergoing a cancer scare after discovering a new mole on her arm.
In her original clip, the American sprawled herself on a sunbed and announced: “I’d rather die hot than live ugly, so if this is going to take 10 years off my life, I don’t care.”
Now Stella has admitted that she ‘takes’ back what she originally said in her viral statement after having to get a suspicious mole removed.
She confessed: “I take it back.”
Stella then shared a snap of a brown raised mole on the top of her right arm then sat just below her shoulder.
The blonde said: “Update they took a chunk of it out and they are going to let me know if I have cancer.”
A couple of days later, Stella filmed an update about the scary mole on her body which started off as a “fleshy toned pimple-like bump.”
She shared that the doctors removed the whole of the mole, not just a chunk as she originally thought.
The American revealed that at points, mainly in the lead up to special occasions, she would use a sun bed three times a week for a month.
Now looking back, Stella realised she might not have been as “educated” as she first thought about the potential dangers of using sun beds.
Luckily for Stella, she received some good news from her doctor.
She shared in another clip: “I just got a call from my doctor and or my dermatologist and they said that the mole they took off my upper right arm has A typical cells, so I think that just means it's not normal cells.
“But it’s not considered cancerous so that is very good news. But I do have to go in every year to get it checked out just to make sure it doesn’t grow into something weird.”
Many people rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on Stella's actions and health scare – where a majority of people condemned the use of sunbeds.
One person commented: “I genuinely don’t understand how people don’t see the danger of tanning beds. It genuinely isn’t worth it. Not to mention it will make you look older.”
Another user added: “I mean… what did you expect girly.”
Whilst a third person voiced: “I literally don’t get why people use tanning beds.”
And, this user remarked: “Sad you only come to your senses when you realise it can happen to you too.”
Despite Stella warning people about the potential risks of using sun beds, some people were adamant that they still would use them.
One person said: “Still using it. But I hope everything turns out well for you!”
Someone else shared: “My mum has used tanning beds forever… she hasn’t had this problem ever.”
Stella urged users: “Just to be clear I am not here to scare anyone or make jokes about this, My grandpa died from melanoma so I know how serious it is. Just here to share my experience with people who maybe don’t know about sun/tanning bed risks.”
