FOR SOOTHING SORE SKIN

The Body Shop CBD Restoring Facial Oil, buy it here for £25

  • Seven best highlighters to give your skin a perfect glow

  • Seven of the best sheet masks to solve every skin issue

This lightweight oil is designed to calm stressed skin, addressing symptoms such as dryness, dullness and irritation.

Tester says: “I would never normally use a face oil when I’m suffering with breakouts for fear of clogging my pores even more, but I took the plunge and applied a small amount of this at night. The results were remarkable – areas of spots that were red and flaky looked noticeably calmer and less inflamed come morning, and my skin felt more hydrated even by the end of the day. This has been a revelation!”

Another harnessing the skin-soothing powers of the cannabis sativa plant, this blends together hemp seed oil with argan and lavender oils.

Tester says: “You can smell the lavender in this, which I love, and it certainly adds to the soothing experience. Other than a hit of hydration, I didn’t notice any other major skincare benefits, but it also didn’t leave my skin feeling overly oily or result in any breakouts. A great choice for facial oil newbies.”

FOR A RADIANCE BOOST

NEOM Great Day Glow Face Oil, buy it here for £42

Full of natural extracts and essential oils, this is designed to put the glow back into dull-looking skin, and has a mood-boosting fragrance.

Tester says: “My skin doesn’t always take well to oils or heavily fragranced skincare so I was a little wary about trying this – however I was pleasantly surprised. I applied a few drops at night and it soaked quickly into the skin, and my face definitely looked more moisturised come the morning. The fragrance is lovely – very spa-like – and didn’t irritate my skin.”

FOR PLUMPING THE SKIN

Beauty Pie Plantastic Overnight Miracle Face Oil, buy it here for £10.14 (members' price)

Containing nourishing plant oils plus antioxidants, algae extract and bakuchiol – a natural alternative to retinol.

Tester says: “This has a bit of an earthy, botanical smell (perhaps from the algae extract), which I actually don’t mind. It wasn’t the quickest absorbing – I could still notice it on my skin when my head hit the pillow half an hour later – but I was impressed with the results come morning; my face felt soft and plump, and patches of dry skin had disappeared.”

FOR ALL-ROUND SKIN PERFECTING

PSA Midnight Courage Rosehip & Bakuchiol Retinol Night Oil, buy it here for £37

Containing retinol AND its plant-based alternative bakuchiol, this works to repair and renew your skin as you sleep, targeting concerns such as fine lines, uneven tone and breakouts.

Tester says: “As my skin can sometimes be sensitive to retinol, I started by mixing a few drops of this into my moisturiser at night (which is one way PSA recommends it can be used), and after a few days progressed to using it straight. It sinks quickly into the skin and gives an instant glow. I can’t confirm if it has made any difference to my fine lines yet but I’m sure my complexion looks fresher and more even by morning.”

FOR FIRMER SKIN

Weleda Pomegranate Firming Facial Oil, buy it here for £38.95

Pomegranate is naturally rich in antioxidants, and here it’s combined with seven other organic plant oils into a blend that.

Tester says: “This is incredibly lightweight – not quite that ‘dry oil’ texture but very easily absorbed, and light enough to use in the morning before make-up. Skin feels immediately soft and hydrated, without any greasy feeling. It’s excellent at giving skin hydration, an instant glow and a healthy look.”

FOR A SPA-LIKE FACIAL EXPERIENCE

TRUE Skincare Rejuvenating Cacay & Frankincense Facial Oil, buy it here for £17

Made with cacay seed oil, sourced from the Amazon rainforest, plus frankincense, this oil has a silky texture and youth-boosting properties – plus it also smells incredible.

Tester says: “I immediately adored the smell of this – an intoxicating blend of essential oils. I do find it a little heavy for my combination skin, and it does pill a bit when layered over serums, but it works well when used with a gua sha tool for a quick at-home facial massage.”

FOR DAMAGE LIMITATION

SkinSense Nourishing Facial Oil, buy it here for £30

This lightweight oil is packed with ingredients such as goji, black pepper, quinoa oil and avocado oil, designed to combat ageing free radical damage as well as strengthen the skin barrier.

Tester says: “This doesn’t have a heady, spa-like scent but what it does have is a beautiful texture that melts in and leaves my skin feeling supple, soothed and smooth. It’s not greasy at all, and I love the way it seems to plump out lines as well as add an immediate glow.”
