First sexters came for the aubergine emoji, then they sullied the peach and the water splash. Now, the pleading emoji has fallen to horny simps.
The puppy-dog-eyed face has long been used when asking your partner if you can order a takeaway or when you need a lend of cash from your mum.
However, it’s now known on Twitter as the ‘begging for sex emoji’, and rising Google search numbers for that term suggest the moniker is here to stay.
Celebrities who’ve used the icon in tweets now receive multiple replies from social media users concerned their fav is begging to smash, with Taylor Swift and streamer Mr Beast both being rinsed by fans.
Others are freaking out that something they’ve potentially been typing something inappropriate in numerous interactions.
Using it with two index finger pointing emojis – each pointing inwards – either side, though, is a direct indication that you’re simping.

For the uninitiated when it come to Gen Z talk (how do you do, fellow kids), simping is when someone becomes sycophantic and servile in an effort to have sex or attract a romantic partner.
Because the emoji looks just like the doe eyes you might give someone you fancy, some people have taken it to signal sexual desire.
Dictionary.com states that it’s: ‘involved in many not-so-innocent acts online (e.g., soliciting or posting adult photos or videos) or making lustier feelings known to the timeline.’
As long as you’re not using it on its own, though, and there are no double entendres or thirst traps attached, you’re good to use it as a picture caption for your pet without fear.
