"You wanna hear a story of how me and this bitch here fell out?" is likely the most captivating introduction to a movie you'll hear.
So begins the trailer for Zola, based on a viral 2015 Twitter thread about a woman swept into a road trip to Florida with an exotic dancer. Taylour Paige (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom) plays the titular Zola opposite Riley Keough in what looks to be a wild ride from start to finish.
The official Zola synopsis from A24 reads: "Zola, a Detroit waitress, strikes up a new friendship with a customer, Stefani, who seduces her to join a weekend of dancing and partying in Florida. What at first seems like a glamorous trip full of 'hoeism' rapidly transforms into a 48-hour journey involving a nameless pimp, an idiot boyfriend, some Tampa gangsters, and other unexpected adventures in this wild, see-it-to-believe-it tale."
The movie also stars Colman Domingo (Euphoria) and Nicholas Braun (Succession's Cousin Greg).
If the movie is anything as gripping as the original Twitter thread, we're in.
