These are the top solo travel destinations for 2023

If you love nothing more than soaking up scenery and sights in solitude, we don’t blame you.

For those planning a solo trip soon, some of the best travel hotspots have been revealed.

Explore Worldwide has analysed search data to put together new rankings. And, globally speaking, Asian cities – including Hanoi and Taipei – have emerged as the best locations for solo travel.

Whereas in Europe, Zurich and Nice have seen the biggest jump in interest for solo travellers – coming in first and second place, respectively.

There’s no denying Zurich’s blend of old-world charm and modern sophistication – as well as its friendliest city title – makes it the perfect spot for solo travellers. Whereas Nice’s salty, sea air and quaint old town makes it very appealing for sunbathing and swimming.

Likewise, the Swiss city of Geneva scooped third place for Europe, with a 210% increase in solo travel searches.

‘It’s fascinating to see cities like Hanoi, Bangkok and Taipei emerging as hotspots for solo adventurers, reflecting a broader trend of exploration beyond traditional Western destinations.’
