TikToker fakes engagement and blags ton of free stuff on girls’ trip to Venice

A TokToker has revealed how she bought a £3 fake engagement ring to blag free drinks, treats, and gondola rides on a girls' holiday to Venice.

In a video, Fran Starkey @franstarkey flaunts her eBay bling and shows herself having the time of her life drinking glasses of champagne on the plane and going on a trip down the canals.

A stranger even bought her some drinks on a night out to help her celebrate and her coffee came with free homemade pastries and biscuits.

She says in the on-screen caption: "Faking my engagement celebrations in Venice to get cheaper stuff.

"Free champers on the plane. Bride goes free on the gondola (half price).

"Rich men buying us drinks to celebrate. Coffee made with extra love and free sides."

The clip was watched more than 300,000 times on the video-sharing app and many viewers thought it was a great idea, and some shared their own blagging experiences.

One user confessed: "Wherever I go I always tell them it’s our anniversary generally get room upgrades in hotels and free drinks lol."

A second said: "My boyfriend said no when I wanted to try get a hotel upgrade."

"Might have to do this," admitted another, while someone else commented, "this seems like a fun idea".

Asda has been offering £1 engagement rings for the first time ahead of Valentine's Day this year, and while many people are baffled some think it's a good idea.

Most men (or women for that matter) do not know their partner's ring size and it can be a gamble picking such an important piece of jewelry without their input.

When Poundland launched its first £1 engagement ring it was well-received by fans, offering fake ruby and diamond options.

One woman commented: "Seriously… if I loved him and he loved me..then I'd wear it with pride. True love isn't defined by how much a ring is worth."
