‘Tinder Swindler’ Simon Leviev Hires Manager, Wants To Make Profit Off Hit Netflix Documentary

The subject of Netflix’s The Tinder Swindler may have not been portrayed in the best light in the new, hit documentary, but he’s still looking to capitalize on the fame.

According to TMZ, sources have revealed that Simon Leviev has signed on to work with a new talent manager, Gina Rodriguez of Gitoni Inc, in hopes of launching a career in Hollywood.

The two reportedly have plans to try to get Simon his own dating show, where women would compete for his love, as well as a podcast about the do’s and don’ts of dating. TMZ explains that Simon hopes to make a “profit” from the infamy he’s gained following the release of the documentary.

Released on Netflix at the start of this month, The Tinder Swindler explores how Simon, an Israeli con man whose birth name was Shimon Hayuk, used the dating application Tinder to emotionally manipulate young women into financially supporting his luxurious lifestyle.

According to Forbes, Simon pretended to be the son of a wealthy diamond maverick, Lev Leviev, who is a very real person (although Simon is not) with a fortune of close to $1 billion.

In the documentary, Netflix claims that Simon was able to scam various women out of a total of $10 million from 2017 to 2019. He always followed a similar pattern – after matching with a girl on a dating app, he’d take her on impressive first date and continue to woo her as he travelled internationally (while dating multiple people at once).

Later, he would convince his love interest that his life was in danger thanks to “enemies” hunting him for his money. Claiming he couldn’t use his credit card for security reasons, he’d get the woman to give him money, use a credit card, or take out a loan to get the money he so desperately needed before ghosting her.

Simon was arrested and charged with fraud in 2017. The Tinder Swindler ends with the surprising revelation that Simon was released after only five months for good behavior.

As per South China Morning Post, it’s not entirely known what Simon has been up to in the years since. His Instagram account was active until shortly before the documentary aired, which showed Simon leading what appears to be the same lavish lifestyle he did as before.

“Thank you for all your support,” Simon said in a final post before deleting his account. “I will share my side of the story in the next few days when I have sorted out the best and most respectful way to tell it, both to the involved parties and myself.

He also asked the public to “please keep an open mind and heart” until explains his side.

SCMP also notes that Simon opened a website focused on business consulting in the last few years, though it’s since been deactivated. Now, his website reveals he’s into real estate and pegs his net worth as in the “tens of millions,” which adds he made the fortune through bitcoin and real estate.

Perhaps Simon’s recent decision to hire a talent manager is his first steps to getting his “side of the story.” For now, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the women who fell victim to his scams pay back the debts they incurred as a result.
